Random Hero:

Karen Sarapas
Teacher, Parmenter Elementary School, Franklin.

The Random Smile Project (RSP), a grass roots, non-profit organization committed to putting smiles on faces throughout our community, visited Parmenter Elementary School in Franklin on Wednesday, April 11, to recognize an outstanding member of our community. Karen Sarapas has been teaching in the Franklin Elementary schools for 35 years, and is widely respected by students and teachers alike. She was nominated on the Random Smile Project's website and awarded with a collection of garden equipment to support her favorite hobby.

As part of Random Smile Project's “playground initiative”, RSP visited "Ms. Sarapas" at Parmenter Elementary School during recess, and was thrilled to be able to deliver over $230 worth of playground equipment for the school including kick balls, basketballs, soccer balls and jump ropes.

"This is the second school we've visited" said Matt Sousa, one of the founding members of Random Smile Project, "and we plan to outfit many more schools before we're done."
