The Henault House:
Random Smile Project’s first project.

The project was a total renovation of one side of a duplex. The Henault’s own a 2 family (side by side duplex) in Franklin. They live in one side of the duplex, and the other side had been vacant for the last 3 years. The purpose of the project was to update the unit to make it rentable. This would give the Henault’s some extra income on a monthly basis to offset their monthly insurance bills. Unfortunately, Phil Henault was diagnosed with ALS in 2006. He had to stop working as a result of the disease.

The whole town of Franklin rallied around the project under the leadership of Paul Molla of F+P Molla Construction. Donations of labor and materials came pouring in, and the project was completed in 3 months. The unit was gutted to the studs, insulated, sheet rocked, plastered and painted. The two bedrooms upstairs got new carpeting. A new bathroom and a new kitchen were installed on the first floor, both with new appliances and new tile. The hardwood floors in the hallway and living room were also refinished.

It was a great first project. While complete home makeovers ARE NOT the primary focus of Random Smile Project we were so grateful to the Henault’s for letting us help out. We made some life long friends, and hopefully brought some smiles to a family that is going through some difficult circumstances.

Please read through the list of people that supplied materials for the project. Thank you again to all of them!
